Supanova Perth is Approaching...

Hey there good citizens of Perth,

Not that you need to be reminded, but Supanova is fast approaching! I didn't know
what to expect last year, but I was certainly surprised by the level of professionalism bought to the convention by Daniel Zachariou and his team. The guest stars, international visitors and variety of local and interstate booths gave Perth an idea of just what it is we've been missing for many years.

Whats really great about an event like Supanova is that people seem to enjoy it for a variety of reasons. Some like to dress up as their favourite manga characters, others like to rummage through a plethora of back issues. Some like watching sweaty men perspire over everywhere as they pretend to beat the living hell out of each other. Some even go for the overpriced Dominoes pizza.

Personally, I'm looking forward to getting my battered old copy of Watchmen #1 signed by Dave Gibbons. And the over priced Pizza. Actually, another highlight for me last year was checking out Kings Comics. An awesome comic shop from Sydney, they bought their own personal flavour to Perth last year with the precision of a military operation. And their selection was humbling to any stocker of graphic fiction in this state. Their range did not just depend on the relatively 'safe' standbys of Marvel and DC, they had a large selection of independent non superhero graphic novels to sink your teeth into. Definitely an ideal to aspire to. And appropriate ideas from (Bwah hah haaaaah).

So come the 4th and 5th of July, make sure you check it out at the Claremont Showground. If you want to know more details, check out their website @supanova.com.au

And if you do head to the show, make sure you make Quality Comics one of your destinations. We may not be the fanciest shop there, but we promise to have some items that are unique to the convention, and some specials that may blow your socks off (they may not, your mileage may vary).
